My Favorite Christmas Tree

December 22, 2008

arrangements,reception ideas

I love this tree and all the gifts under it! ( My books of course)

The reason I love this tree is because it mixes modern and traditional elements.

arrangements

As many of you know by now my favorite flowers are orchids, you can see how the orchids garland on this tree really pop. We also created our own fresh floral ornaments out of green mums. It is so fun to mix in fresh flowers on a tree, but remember to pick heartly flowers for this so they last.

arrangements

We wove in butterflies, birds, and crystals among many other little items throughout the tree all within the same family of green.

You can see in the image above we even threw in some mini disco balls and emarld green feathers around some of the orchids.

Holiday Ideas

December 18, 2008

Using the same flowers every year for you Holiday arrangements can get stale, this year I decided to spruce my arrangements up but still stay traditional.

Here are 2 arrangements we did, as you can see in this one we used peonies, orchids, pomegranates, and threw in some traditional greens.

In the below images we just used orchids (my favorite) and the greens again. We also glued a bunch of cinnamon sticks together and wrapped them around the vase. This was a big hit with my friends. Get Creative this season!

Holiday Decor Tricks for small spaces

December 16, 2008

One of the best ways to spruce up a small space for the holidays when entertaining
Is to use the variations of the same shade of color. As you can see in the photos we choose green for our inspiration. This event was held is a small tent behind my clients brownstone in NYC. As you all know that means there is not tons of space but the use of homogeneous colors helps trick the eye to make it look larger.

In the images above you can see how we made our own ornaments by using a bunch of tiny bulbs. I love the layered look of this, we attached these to custom made metal trees that we also hung rain drop crystals from and adorned with ribbon & orchids. All of the elements in the decor were all in the same green family.

even our LED lights and wine glasses were a shade of green!

Another great trick is to mix the live trees with the handmade ones, this gives depth to the room.

Paper Elegance

I love this! We created a beautiful elegant table all made from wrapping paper, ribbons, and small embellishments. You can do this so easily bust out your scissors and glue guns.

We glued ribbon along the edge of our favorite wrapping paper and add some beading to the ribbon to give it a nice finished look. You can see we made our placemats and table runner like this. Then we cut out images of poinsettias and put them on our candles with some ribbon as well. You don’t need tons and tons of money to have a beautiful table this year.
