Lovely post Mr. Preston. I find that getting EVERYTHING in writing can help pan out any future problems. It's something to refer back to should they say those dreaded words

Thank you for sharing this, I think this is hugely important. Information & communication are the key to successful events. We've experienced many other suppliers who promise services but don't provide information & it's impossible to work with {from both a brides perspective & another suppliers point of view}

High Preston & you all ! This is my 'Fantasy land" connecting with you .
Love Everything you all do. I get high just seeing what you all come up with (design) !
I agree, every person who comes to a party can become a client !
They haven't yet ! I will leave some cards....Again.

Also, a bride has said the same & to this day she still avoids me !
This is why I don't do weddings. Too many "Bridezillas' & emotional issues to deal with ! From experience, I have to 'tune into' exactly what they want, get colors, etc.
explain clearly what I see & if it matches with them........get a budget & go ahead.
I have a hard time knowing how much to charge for something I Love to do !
Thank you all ! Keep having fun, you are so lucky to be doing this blissful work.
Many blessings.

Dear Preston,

Ah...the dreaded response! I encountered this a few weeks back, unfortunately.

It was one of by biggest budget clients; I was terribly discouraged when they said "Our wedding is not glam enough". It really brought me down for a few days, and I kept thinking what had I not done enough?

Thankfully, I found their champagne cork from their wedding toast in one of my floral stands, and I made a floral arrangement with the champagne cork, based on some of their wedding flowers and theme, and surprised them on their one-month wedding anniversary. I guess sometimes the best way to soothe unhappy clients, and to ensure that one's reputation does not go down the drain, is to continue with good after-sales service.

Thank you for sharing all your experiences via this blog. Not many people are brave enough to share the negative aspects of wedding business, but you truly are so generous in your sharing! You are really my inspiration and guide when I face difficult clients and problems!

I havent accounted this issue yet but thanks for bringing up this important topic. Its a good reminder to keep communication clear and all expectations clearly outlined. Unfortunately, you will get that discerning bride who still says otherwise.

I totally agree that a lot of visuals need to be presented to the clients cos they are not like us, we see floral arrangements almost everyday but to them, they probably see only once or twice in their whole life. Thanks Preston for sharing all these with us, it really helps especially for someone like me who is thinking of venturing into wedding planning. Thanks for all the tips!
