I know I was just talking last week about the importance of a Stop Doing list but, as we all know, To Do lists are one of the most important tools we have to help us throughout our day (for business and personal). I thought it might help us to start sharing our To Do list of the most challenging things we need to do this week every Monday.
I was hoping that as we share the list with each other we’ll be able to accomplish each task by supporting each other. We can do this by always remembering that:
1) By eliminating excuses we encourage success.
2) By doing things NOW, we accomplish great things.
3) By accessing our ability to THINK SMALL and ACT, we easily accomplish our larger goals.
The practice of being successful begins with thinking big, yet taking a first small step. Don’t forget that there is no “RIGHT WAY” of doing something, just as long as you take action.
So, here is my TO DO list this week:
Work
(I am designing a job and I feel stuck creatively.)
Spend half my day visiting museums and galleries.
See Iron Man 2 again–I was inspired by the special effects.
Spend a few hours at a book store.
Question for you: How do you get unstuck when it comes to being inspired?
Books
Finish reading The Power of Coincidence by David Richo.
Question for you: I try to read a book a week. Do you have any great suggestions?
Diet
Eat at least two helpings of vegetables daily.
(Yes folks, vegetables are my least favorite food. Sugar is number one–I try never to eat it–followed by rice and meats.)
Exercise
Take a swimming class to develop better technique.
Take a yoga class (Already did this morning.)
Personal
Continue preparation for moving into my new office on my new floor. This means letting go of lots of stuff (not easy).
Spiritual
My affirmation of the week (and always):
I AM OPEN TO RICHES AND CREATIVITY BEYONG MY WILDEST DREAMS.
I hope you can share at least one part of what is on your To Do list this week with me. And keep in mind that you can’t get the HUMONGOUS things done today but you can certainly take the first step.
Let’s check in with each other next Monday.

George Bernard Shaw once said: “You see things and say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were and say, ‘Why not?’” That quote embodies how Preston Bailey approaches every event.

My list is also long but taking it one step at a time!
First: Getting in touch with our lighting and design guru for an upcoming July wedding. We are looking at being creative on a small budget which I love to do!
Second: Starting a simple exercise routine so I can give myself a little “me” time. I heard jump roping is good for not only aerobic exercise but to strengthen the muscles in your face. My chubby cheeks need some help! Ha!
Best of luck to everyone else who is working on their To-Do lists!
Thanks,
Lori

Love the way you divide your list into sections. My to do list would be as follows:
Work:
Start painting (luster dust) sugar flowers.
Bake wedding cake, decorate and deliver (wedding this Friday).
Have fun while working!
Diet:
Make more tea’s during this week (not feeling good).
Personal:
Take some time for a facial and go to bed by 9pm.
Books/Spiritual:
Finish reading “Honor y Recompensa” By: John Bevere.
For the excercise part I would love to take more walks but here in Florida is about 90 degrees (way to hot)!
Love making To Do Lists they keep me on track! Good luck on yours Mr. Preston

I have 3 pages of things that I need to do. When I have ideas, I try to write them down so that they feel real.
The first page is a short term to-do with small and big things. I tend to do the small things so I can cross off items and feel like I am getting somewhere. The other pages are long term goals.
I have about 23 items on this week’s list. So far today, I accomplished about half of that and feel good about it.
I still have:
- Write blog posts for the rest of the week
- Finish processing e-mails I have received this weekend
- Continue working on the table scape for this weekend’s bridal show
- Keep working on the linens and centerpieces for the upcoming photo shoot
- Review the marketing plan
- Write a couple more pages of my operations manual
I also need to pick a new book for this week. Last week I read Seth Godin’s “Free Prize inside” and enjoyed it. I think I might re-read the Alchemist this week. I like to revisit my favorite books for extra motivation.
Have a great week everyone!

This is great as putting priorities out there makes one accountable.
Today we are doing just that; prioritizing the many goals we’re working towards. Your posts reminds us to take it one step at a time.
When our client + personal To Do lists and our goals get too overwhelming, we get re-inspired and clear our heads by talking a nice, long walk on the beach.

Thank you again. This post couldn’t have come at the better time. Sometimes, there are no coincidences. Tomorrow is my birthday and I am letting go of past hurt and pain. I am going to release a balloon and will watch all my fears and other negative thoughts float away and focus and shift all my energy to all that I know is waiting for me. But before we can reach for anything greater we need to let go… Tonight I am writing all my regrets and painful memories, but I am also writing my list of blessings.Tonight I am letting go and tomorrow is the start of all the great things The Light and Universe have to offer! I can feel how great it is going to be!
PS going to look for The Power of Coincidence by David Richo

oh and the book suggestion: I have just finished reading Elif Shefak’s “The Forty Rules of Love”. It is a poignant read, thought provoking and incredibly spiritual. It is as beautiful, as it is sad, but also inspiring.

Good thought for a STUCK day
“Everything is fine. You are being guided. You’ve made great stuff happen, and you will make more great stuff happen. You’ve changed lives. You’ve changed your own. You’ve moved mountains and done the impossible. You’ve been scared and you overcame. You’ve been knocked down and you rose. And you’ve been lost,or so you thought, only to discover it was just the calm before another storm of creativity, love, and fun.”
Not my words….just words to live today by….

Hi Preston, great idea! Here’s my “To Do List – valid for life”
How to do anything:
Step 1: Dream it.
Step 2: Believe it.
Step 3: Live it.
Step 4: Let go of it.
This week I begin to make 15 life-sized sculptures for an outdoor event in about as many days….big dreams, small steps…. As for recommended reading: “Letters to a Spiritual Seeker” by David Henry Thoreau. I keep this extract from it written out on a notecard in my work bag:
“I say to myself – Do a little more of that work which you have confessed to be good. You are neither satisfied nor dissatisfied with yourself without reason. Have you not a thinking-faculty of inestimable value? If there is an experiment which you would like to try – try it. Do not entertain doubts if they are not agreeable to you.
Remember that you need not eat unless you are hungry. Do not read the newspapers. [Thoreau felt that news reports of his day were repettive, gossipy and a waste of time as there is little we can learn from that ;-p] Improve every opportunity to be melancholy. As for health, consider yourself well. Do not engage to find things as you think they are. Do what nobody else can do for you – Omit to do anything else. “
