Your Turn: Best Venue In Your Area

Wedding Hall

Gotham Hall in New York City (Before)

HELP! I am having a hard time finding great new venues to recommend to my clients when I am working around the world. I find that a lot of venues have these amazing pictures online, but when I visit either the upkeep leaves a lot to be desired (dirty carpets, scratched chairs, dirty walls, etc.) or the food is not all it promised to be.

Could you please recommend the best venues that you have worked in or visited in your area?

place settings, table setting,flowers,wedding centerpieces,bouquets,arrangements

Gotham Hall (after)

This is what I am looking for:

  • Beautiful rooms, modern or traditional
  • Good upkeep
  • Great food
  • Great servers
  • Good bathroom (If this is not great, I can always improve it)
  • An extra bonus: if they have good hang points (I love the choice of hanging extra lighting or decoration from the ceiling)

Your recommendation would be greatly appreciated!

I would highly suggest the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington DC. I feel this hotel is one of the best kept secrets. Not only does it sit on 8 acres of private gardens backing Rock Creek Park but it has amazing ballrooms with all different styles in mind and also one of the most flexible spaces in Washington DC.

Also it has a lot of history, Kennedy proposal to Jackie, Inaugural Balls, Thomas Jefferson Inspired mural and The famous “Blue Ballroom”

LEBANON: Once the residence of the last Emirs of Lebanon in the 19th century, the Mir Amin Palace has been restored to its former glory, and transformed into a luxurious five-stars Hotel.

If you come to Georgia, one of the most beautiful and best kept secrets is Chota Falls. This venue has endless possbilities for EVERY time of the year and for once, the pictures pale in comparison. The staff loves the property and cares for it like a newborn baby.

I love it there and am looking for any opportunity to host a shindig there. They have a bonfire pit I am dying to stage and try out!

In Lebanon and the Middle East: Visit CHATEAU RWEISS, it has the best panoramic landscape view in the region along with a very unique indoor hall that leaves you with flexibility of choosing tables, chairs, and the catering company you would like!

Since you’ll be in Barbados for Bride Villa 2011 supposedly, check out Orchid World Groves in St. George, and Bellevue Plantation Estate – Villa, Waterford, St. Michael, Barbados. Both are very much Off the Beaten Path, but that’s our specialty.
Best regards Ralph & Lee-Anne York.
