I know I was just talking about my raw food diet the other week, but have you ever found that when you can’t have something you only want it more? That’s how I’m feeling this week about junk food.
In general, I try to avoid sweets and eat very healthfully, but then some days you just want something junky and satisfying.
Some of my favorite junk foods are: ice cream, hot dogs from NYC street vendors, popcorn with extra butter and the ultimate comfort–chocolate.
Now, please tell me…what is your favorite junk food?

George Bernard Shaw once said: “You see things and say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were and say, ‘Why not?’” That quote embodies how Preston Bailey approaches every event.

I love ice cream, served in a waffle bowl or cone with lots of fun stuff mixed in. I also like Crave cupcakes and Monster Apples (large candy apple covered with caramel, then drizzled with milk chocolate, white chocolate and pecans…mmmm) from the RM Chocolate Factory. I also like Brach’s Maple Nut Goodies.

I would have to say chocolate covered almonds. I cannot eat just one or two. I have to eat the whole box and then take 15 minutes to talk myself out of buying another box. My goodness, I could eat some right now. Now we are all thinking about junk food. I also say shame on you Preston Bailey!

Preston, you are so down to earth! It is fun to see “the kid in you” craving for delicious ice cream. It’s not easy to stay on track with healthy eating habits when summertime cravings kick in. I am eating low fat and fat free these days as much as possible to help keep inflammation away. I am mostly concentrating on saturated fats and I recently found a tasty fat free ice cream in the grocery store. It is very satisfying when I start craving for ice cream and especially when I top it with sliced banana and fat free whipped cream! Mmmmmmmmm good!
And dark chocolate in moderation is now considered healthy with antioxidants.

I remember growing up in Guyana my mom made one of two flavors of ice cream every other weekend. Vanilla or Peach!
Her presentation was simple and to the point. What ever the flavor, she paired it with baked goods. Ginger cookies, cassava/yuca pone, pumpkin pie, chocolate rum cake or when it’s a really special occasion, she would make her Panamanian special, Pastel Tres Leches aka ” Three Milk Cake”…..just writing this comment is taking me way back to the good old days of childhood. Anyway my point is, Ice cream was the star and warm desserts were the co-starred. Today, my wife and I are addicted to The Blue Stove, a little pie shop in williamsburg Brooklyn. We loved it so much, we decided to do a little blog story on them and no, they don’t sell ice cream, but i always make sure to bring my own to the party. If you don’t mind, i’ve taken the liberty of posting a link to our little story on them, I think you can appreciate it.

Oooo…that’s a tough one, but I’d have to say it’s the Warm Louisiana Butter Cake from Gary Danko in San Francisco. I know it sounds odd, but it’s seriously the best thing I’ve ever put in my mouth.

This may or may not be considered a true “junk food” but I will gladly fast all day to indulge in a plate of cheesy, Tex-Mex style enchiladas and cold Bohemia beer.
