All week I am surrounded by many people. So, every Saturday morning after a good workout at the gym, I like escaping all by myself to an early movie.
Last week I saw The Town–good job starring and directing Mr. Ben Affleck. After leaving the theater, there was a burn victim begging at the entrance of the theater.
At first, I went by without stopping (my first thought was: how convenient that he’s waiting outside the theater). But then, I came back and handed him a $20 bill.
You would have thought I had given him a million dollars!
What struck me as odd was how great I felt after doing that small act of kindness. I truly felt a sense of happiness that I carried with me for the rest of the day.
It set the tone for the rest of my week by making me stop and truly take in the many happy moments we often take for granted.
By actively concentrating on good deeds and good news, I think it’s a great way to encourage happiness in our lives.
So, this week please share any or all happy moments, good deeds or good news that has happened recently in your life.

George Bernard Shaw once said: “You see things and say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were and say, ‘Why not?’” That quote embodies how Preston Bailey approaches every event.

What happy moment? What good deed? What good news? If giving money makes you feel happy then perhaps you should send some of it my way. Make my day too!

OMG… was that you on Saturday! After you left that man you handed the money to went into a liquor store and got torn up. He then sat outside said theater drunk and panhandling. I am really happy it made you feel good but for the rest of us, hmmmmm… not so much.
Next time, give to UNICEF.
Have an awesome weekend!!!

Happy moments are what life is about. I enjoy your positive and refreshing blog. What I have come to learn about being kind, helping others and helping in the community is that it is contagious and repayed ten fold.
I have a simple story to share. I moved away from the larger city I live in now to a smaller city in another region of the country. The people in this region were so kind and cordial to one another. At first it graded upon me as I was not used to all the friendliness, but after time I found that this was a very spiritually grounded place and that neighbors genuinely cared for one another. A year later I returned to the larger city where I lived before to work for a non profit. I noticed the difference right away and it saddened me, so I decided to apply what I had learned. I do not rush to get anywhere (the moments we have in life are so precious), I wave at all neighbors, I stop and speak to people with whom I come in contact daily. I applied the lesson’s that I learned from my experience. Happiness, contentment, and kindness is contagious. If you can make a positive change in someone’s life you are truly blessed.
