By having 100% blind faith, period. But as we all know, faith without action is nothing. Before I go further in answering this question, I’d like to point out that you’d have to be living under a rock or another planet not to be affected by the world’s bad economy.
To make matters even worse, we are in the entertaining business so if given the choice of putting a roof over your head or giving a party, shelter and eating will win out every time.
I strongly believe that if you love what you do for a living and you find that there is nothing else you’d be happy doing, then you are an artist, without a question (a doctor is an artist of medicine, for example).
It took me years (and it’s still a work in progress) to understand that there is also a great deal of artistry in your ability to take your passion and turn it into cash. If you have any doubts, just ask Mr. Bill Gates.
Aside from being an artist and having a product, I needed to learn how to be a “financial artist.” This came in two parts:
1. Complete and blind faith that regardless of how bad a situation is, it will always change for the best. In my worse days of fear, this is what still keeps me going.
2. The second part…we’ll talk about on Thursday. It will be a post all about “making money as an art form.”
You might not be completely happy with my response, and I wish I had another, however that was the plain truth. I managed to overcome my obstacles by never doubting that I was being guided by a higher power.
Do you trust your higher power? Or do you think this is nonsense? What motives you to change?

George Bernard Shaw once said: “You see things and say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were and say, ‘Why not?’” That quote embodies how Preston Bailey approaches every event.

I have 100% faith in MY own abilities and I just keep going. The idea that there is a higher power who cares if my business succeeds but lets little children die from malnutrition/war/treatable diseases etc; seems arrogant to me. As long as you actively working toward positive change, things will (eventually) get better. As you said though, action is key!

I think it was Frederick Douglass who said “I prayed for 20 years and never received an answer until I prayed with my legs”–or something along those lines.
I was able to quit my job several months ago and pursue my dream of owning my own company only because of my faith that God will take care of my husband and I by making a way for my dreams to become a real, viable business.
God won’t do the work for you, but he will take care of you if you put your trust in him.

I actually think that you are spot on Mr. Preston Bailey. Faith is a powerful emotion that allows us to move forward, albeit it not always easily. Faith, clear intention and positive thought all have an intrinsic value in our world of cause and effect. I think that whatever language you put onto this way of thinking matters only to the individual and how we each guide our daily lives and future. Faith, I believe is blood emotion. It is something that is in us to be taped into instinctively.

So true!! You took the words out of my mouth. We are a company of 2 event planners and we have been in business for 3 years. Though we had quite a lot of work in the beginning, things have been getting worse due to the global crisis but we strongly believe this is our passion. Financially, we think 2011 will be Year 0 again. Everybody is cutting down theirs expenses and turning their back on this type of service, but we won’t give up. We believe in what we do, who we are and that we can make a difference.

God is my higher power. I would not be able to step out and challenge myself by starting my own business of being a wedding and event planner. By being new to the business, I’m still learning but I believe that God will guide me. God will not do everything for you but he will provide you with the resources that you need to succeed and to be wise in using those resources. I believe things happen for a reason and it is up to us to make the best of it. The economy is a big issue but we have to believe and have Faith that things will get better. “Trouble doesn’t last always.” We do face hard times but it is to make us stronger and Mr. Bailey has given his testimony on that. Thank you Mr. Bailey, you rock!

Preston, I would hundred percent agree with you on keeping faith and not only faith but blind faith. Many a time I look back and wonder that how I have roof on my head. How I was able to motivate myself. God is the one who is guiding me thorough and giving me power to heal and grow as well. Being optimistic is one thing but having blind faith in God is another. Thanks for the food to soul.
