Reminder: Shoot for the Moon

“Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.”
–Les Brown

I have had so many personal and business dreams that have come true. However, most times I am so busy worrying about the dream that has NOT happened that I forget to simply stop and say Thank You.

As we approach Thanksgiving, I’d like us to stop and really think of all the business dreams we have had that have come true. It could be that first client you wanted, or that first big job you dreamt of getting, or even that business you dreamt about starting…

As for me, anytime I hear myself thinking “I can’t believe…,” I know at that moment a dream just came true.

Let me start:
I have always dreamt of writing as a way to connect to others. (Even though my grammar leaves a lot to be desired…there is that voice again), and I can’t believe I actually have all of you reading my blog. So, of course I must say Thank You. P.S. I also just landed my first major blogging gig with an important NBC property.

So folks, enough of what’s NOT happening. Please join me in saying Thank You to all our business dreams and successes. Leave a comment saying one thing you’re thankful for.

I am grateful for all of the opportunities that I have been given over the years, even the ones that I was not aware of until later. I am grateful for good health, great wealth, happiness, joy and freedom. I thank you personally for providing answers and inspiration.

I have so many things to be thankful about. Every year at the end of the year I write something to send to my friends. Last year I decided to write two lists: one for the good things that happened in 2009 and one for the bad things. I cried when I realized that I only had three bads things to list. Now I´m thinking of my writing for the end of the year. It won´t be another list, I never repeat the style of the writing but the “list” of good things is full. I just need a creative way to express them. At least I have the photo to accompany my thoughts! A few of the things: I finally started my own business, I´m almost done with my short stories book, I learned Illustrator and a little bit of Photoshop, my parents came to visit me in the country I decided to live in, I went to Europe for the first time!!!!, I survived an armed robbery, I went to New York to visit my brother, I met Preston Bailey in person!!!!!! and the list goes on— Yes, I still have a lot lot lot of dreams but I´ll definitely shoot for the moon and the stars!! ;-) Please all of you do the same!! God bless you Mr. Bailey!!!

♥ what you do, ♥ who you are.. divine divine mentor..!
I’m grateful that I had the courage to take the plunge into opening my own floristry business in the beginning of the year.. And then having all these people around me and even strangers to be encouraging and supporting me in what I do. Believing in me that one day I will reach the star.. Then, just recently, I have been blessed with great connections with other talented individuals in the industry and this allows me to gain referrals from them. So, business is looking very promising for the future. Just 2 days ago, I have been commissioned to do a cover page for a very very respectable flower magazine (world renown) And THIS is my ‘I can’t believe….’ moment. Hopefully, we can wow the publisher and make the cover. Thank you Preston for being such a great mentor and person. I am very thankful that the universe is listening to my future dreams… But, for now. I am living in one..

Just yesterday I posted on my Facebook page, “I just wanted to say…Thank you God!” On the way home from meeting last night with a Wedding Client, I felt so grateful. I begin thinking about the last week and this week. “I can’t believe” a large Association in the City is having me do their Annual Dinner. “I can’t believe” that the same organization is considering me for 3 more of their major events. I smiled at myself and said “Why not, you prayed for it!” LOL!

Many times we are focused on the pursuit that we do not stop and appreciate the journey. We do not think or “thank” about the small wins that are happening around us.

Congrat’s on your first major Blogging opportunity!!!
    Blessings & Favor!

I am thankful for the opportunity I was given to plan my first gala. It was a lot of pressure to plan for 480 guests, at a prestigious hotel with a guest list full of dignitaries in only 3 months. I’m thankful for the person who absolutely believed in me and ultimately recommended me for the gig.

Well thank you, Preston, for sharing your insights and tips. Your personal experience and willingness to share is so very kind. I am always so excited and still surprised when I receive an email from you. Sometimes it’s hard to remember that there are fantastic A-List designers and business owners who do make time to chat with their fan base and aspiring business owners. Thank you!

Hope your Thanksgiving was fabulous! Mine was a joy- grateful for so very many things. And it’s true– we need to remember what IS happening and HAS happened, and not so much on what is NOT happening. :) Congrats on the big blogging endeavor!! How truly exciting! I have a wetted appetite for pushing my company and writing further and reaching my Q1 2011 goals. I can do it!! It takes time, though, and patience…. Step by step :)

    Cheers,
    Savannah
