MY VISIT WITH THE FASHION INSTITUTE OF DESIGN AND MERCHANDISING
September 23, 2011
Happy Friday, folks!
This week I had the pleasure of meeting some wonderful students from the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM), which is based in Los Angeles. This is the second year in a row that students from the FIDM have visited my offices here in New York City, and I hope we can keep up the annual tradition. The students are future wedding and event planners, designers, publicists, creative directors and buyers, and I was really impressed by their passion. If these kids are any indication, the wedding and event industry will be in good hands in the years to come!
After their visit, I felt a renewed sense of vigor and excitement for the projects I’m working on right now. I love when that happens.
Dear Readers, do you ever work with students? Do you hire interns? I highly encourage you to reach out to a wedding and event education program. Offer to make a class presentation or to give a group of students a tour of your studio. You’ll learn just as much from the students as they learn from you!
Have a great weekend. See you back here on Monday!
