My Trip to the Edmonton Bridal Expo

Preston Edmonton Bridal Expo Katherine LomaxWhew! I just got back from a two-week trip around the world. Yes, folks, around the world in a mere two weeks! My trip included some wonderful book signings for my new book, Preston Bailey Flowers. I also had the opportunity to meet a few new clients in person, which I always love. One new client in particular has asked me do what I like to call “a dream job,” and I absolutely can’t wait to start designing it!

As fantastic as my travels were, what I really can’t stop thinking about is a short trip I took the week before my big international travels started:

I made a quick visit to one of the friendliest city I’ve ever been to; I went to Edmonton in Canada. The lovely Katherine Lomax, who owns the wedding planning and decor firm, Elegant Touches, invited me to give a speech as part of the Edmonton Bridal Expo. (The photo at the top of this post is of Katherine and me at the Expo!)

I’m so glad I was able to go. I had a great time. It was a pleasure working with Katherine, too. In fact, I was so taken with her that I invited her to come back to New York City with me and celebrate my new book at my book party at Joan Rivers’ home.

Here’s a photo of Katherine and me taken at my book party with Joan Rivers and friends:

Preston Bailey Joan Rivers Book PartyWhat struck me most about Edmonton is that this lovely city appears to be practically untouched by our current economic hardships. All of the planners and designers I met seem to be thriving. There was great vigor in the corporate and social market, and it was incredibly inspiring. I was thrilled to be surrounded by so much talent and energy. And Katherine was the ultimate hostess! She and her fantastic team ran the entire event brilliantly. The saying goes that behind every great man is a great woman, but, in Katherine’s case, the saying really ought to be that behind every great woman is a great man — Katherine’s husband, Bill Lomax, is amazing! I was so impressed by their relationship.

And here’s a cool photo of the Bridal Expo Fashion Show:
