Are You A Great Florist?

Preston Bailey Flower Design InspirationIt’s no secret that one of the true treasures of my heart is working with flowers. But I also love it when I have the opportunity to work with talented and passionate florists in America and abroad. And, as far as I’m concerned, one of the best and brightest is the brilliant floral architect and Belgium designer Daniel Ost. (Do you know Ost? If not, check him out right now!)

And of course I also love pouring over flower books. I always have. Which is why I wrote my latest book, Preston Bailey Flowers. I want to inspire readers to not only create beautiful flower arrangements but also to explore and take risks. To sculpt and play with flowers. That’s the best part! It’s also when you’ll come up with your best designs.

I’m always searching for new florists across the globe who I can collaborate with. Do you know any amazing florists?

Please nominate the best florist in your area in the comments below. What I’m really looking for are florists who understand the beauty (and necessity!) of taking floral risks. No playing it safe around here! And, as always, don’t hesitate to nominate yourself.

    Hi Preston,
I would like too nominate Celeste Gregory. Celeste is great and has been doing great shows. She recently was the head designer for a boutique here in Atlanta doing their fashion show. The fascinated thing about the show, was that she had to create all of the gowns out of paper flowers for the runway. Please check out her website; http://www.ambience-decor.com. Thanks so much.

We always do very creative and modern designs – nothing traditional or cookie cutter. We experiment with flowers in any way we can think of and love incorporating them in new ways. This nomination is not for me but someone that has brought back my passion for flowers and designing again. After 18 years in the business, 11 of which were spent doing low budget and everyday basic flowers I lost my desire and spark to get excited about flowers. My job became just that….a job! Since I started working at Mandala Floral here in Calgary Alberta my passion has come back! Mallory Lutz (the owner) has such a strong radiance of creativity and passion for weddings and large events that is is hard not to get excited with her. She has great dreams of becoming Canada’s “Preston Bailey”, and I believe she has the talent and the drive to do it. An opportunity to work along side you in creating one of your floral masterpieces would be an honor and dream come true for someone that truly deserves to be able to show the world what she can do…..I am happy to nominate a wonderful talented floral designer, Mallory Lutz of Mandala floral!

As a design firm, we are excited to take risks, try new techniques, and work to advance the industry.

I nominate Jessie, the floral designer behind Jardin Floral Designs in Los Angeles, CA.

Despite his short time in the business, Jessie has already created a broad variety of installations – from the uber-liberal bride with an all-black bouquet,
to the traditional bouquet of an upscale Palos Verdes Country Club wedding,
to a vintage inspired wedding that included an altar with florals nestled inside an antique dresser and centerpieces with birdcages, mossy limbs, books and antiques. Most recently, Jessie created an evergreen holiday landscape at the Four Seasons Westlake Village.

At 25 years of age, Jessie shows great promise. Check him out at:
