Life In Motion

When I came across this stunning painting by Mark Spain, I could not help but to reflect on the ways in which our industry (and life) twists and turns without missing a beat.  As planners, we must always be ready to take a new step, to make quick changes in direction and to continuously push ourselves to find (and overcome) new challenges.  When I look at her, the woman in the photo seems to be dancing to a violent beat with elegance, poise, determination and grace.  Following in her footsteps requires practice and dedication but will help us all to continuously provide our clients excellent customer service.

Isn’t that what it’s all about?
How will you dance to your own beat this weekend?

As planners, during an event, we are the beat artists. If we are not confident about the pace and timeline we have set, all of the vendors will sense that and react to it, thus creating an atmosphere that is not enjoyable for the guests.

Not only does our industry change, but look at a typical wedding, things happen, wedding party members show up late, vendors show late (I know, but it happens) how do we react? What is our body language saying? We must always be the captain of the ship, lead with confidence and project that you know what is going on, and already have set plans in motion to compensate for a short coming.

This painting is amazing. I was scrolling through articles but this painting caused me to pause and reflect. It instantly took me on a journey. Life is so rush rush rush it is nice to have something to catch you off guard to make you pause all the “important” things to simply reflect and get lost in a moment. Thank you for sharing.
