Taking Risks In Our Work

Dear Readers,

We often think of “mistakes” as being steps in the wrong direction, but, as artists, allowing the fear of failure to paralyze us can be the biggest mistake of all.  Risk-taking is an essential ingredient in artistry and a key element in creating a world of inspiration – both for yourself and your peers.  I came across photos of  Motohiko Odani’s solo exhibition “Phantom Limb” which was presented at the Mori museum in Tokyo.  The instillation pushes the boundaries of traditional sculpture and is a gorgeous example of what happens when we take risks in our work.

What do you think?

What risks are you ready to take?

Please share.

Blessings,

Preston

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY? let us RISK again – feel the fear and love it. as an artist i have to say THANK YOU so much for showcasing this important work. it’s breathtaking. let it propel us to risk and do, in a time where fear rules.

The first art picture is all that any one would love to have as inspiration. I see the rays of sunshine that is giving energy to move forward leaving behind the impossible. Another thing that one can feel is the team spirit. I just love the feel. Thanks for sharing.

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. In fact, I recently started a newsletter based on the idea of taking the risk of finding inspiration from *outside* the wedding world (something I admire about your work).

It’s also my chance to risk putting myself out there so that planners and designers like you can get to know my style and what makes me excited better. Hopefully that will mean my name pops up when they come across a client that fits.

I’d be honored if you’d consider subscribing, Preston.
