Dear Readers,
I recently came across this site and enjoyed looking at the various ways designers took an everyday object (in this case, an umbrella) and created innovative and extraordinary designs. As designers, it is our job to transform the ordinary and transport our audience, and to use our imagination to inspire while also opening our eyes to the world, a place of endless inspiration.
I would love to share some of the photos with you and also get your opinion on them. Note, there are more on the site.
In addition, I would love to see some of the work you have done. Perhaps you could post links to some of your own instillations below.
Blessings,
Preston

George Bernard Shaw once said: “You see things and say, ‘Why?’ But I dream things that never were and say, ‘Why not?’” That quote embodies how Preston Bailey approaches every event.

I was asked one day to create a paper wedding bouquet for a photo session. I’ve seen lots of bouquets with paper flowers in them, but I really wanted to use paper in a different way. I kept searching the web for possible ideas, and one day I stumbled across a photo of a modern chair, which finally gave me the idea of creating this bouquet. I made the whole base out of folded brown wrapping paper (in the end, the base looked like a fluffy roman vase
) and I put the flowers in a floral sponge in the concavity of the “vase”. this is what I ended up with. I don’t have a better photo than this one, but I hope you can see the result.http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=311849828865933&set=t.100003021445388&type=3&theater
