Taking a Moment To Breathe

autumn sunset, preston bailey blogDear Readers,

I cannot believe it is already the first of October. It seems like just yesterday it was summer, yet there is a crispness in the air and pumpkins laid about, reminding us all that fall is well underway. This got me to thinking about the concept of time and how it can either fly by or tick away slowly, depending on our mindset.

Myself and others in the event business know that fall is often a very busy season. I have been so occupied with traveling to various speaking engagements and working on events that it feels like I am speeding through my days at a record pace.  Experience has shown me that burning the candle at both ends only leads to exhaustion, frustration, and dampened creativity.

I often have to remind myself to slow down, take a deep breath, and give myself a moment to reflect and refresh.  I usually do this by taking a walk in Central Park, going for a run, or enjoying a good book. I find that taking a few quiet moments for myself allows me to maintain a balance that benefits my clients and helps protect my creativity. I  am a firm believer in self-nourishment. I trust that through this we are better able to offer shade to others.  What are your thoughts?

I’d like to know how you reflect and renew and how you feel that doing so benefits your own clients and enhances your own design abilities.

I look forward to reading your responses!

Blessings,

Preston

Hi Preston! You’ve accomplished so much thru the grace of God. Your talent has reach to others in succeeding. Always take time for yourself to “relax” and enjoy what already has been done…………………you deserve to have a “special” time for you. Thank you again for sharing all of your experience in decorating. So greatly appreciated, God Bless.

    Preston,

This post couldn’t be more perfect, thank you for writing.
We’ve now stepped into the busy street of the event business and sometimes it is hard to step back and reflect. I feel I work my best when I take a half hour break to step outside, walk around, smell the fresh air or sit and meditate. Then, back to work and I feel like a brand new person.
