How Does Your Vision (Of Yourself) Impact Your Clients?

Preston Bailey Designs Your Vision Self Worth

Dear Readers,

Today I would like to speak on the importance of self-respect and self-nurturing.  As event planners, designers, florists and artists, we are constantly giving to those around us.  I believe that I leave a piece of myself in every design I hand over.  While I have been blessed with appreciative, kind, and wonderful clients, I have also worked with those who were not as appreciative of my time, creativity, and energy.  While accolades are always nice, it is essential that our sense of worth not be  swayed drastically by cheers, comments, and critiques of those around us.

Time has shown me that the more we treat ourselves with respect (which is completely different from tossing around ones ego), the more we will respect our work and the space we take up in the world and our industry. Furthermore, those around us will start to treat us with more respect as people often treat us the way we treat ourselves.

I would like to know how you carry yourself with clients and others and how you feel this has impacted your reputation positively and negatively?  Do you allow criticism to deflate you?  Are you someone who thrives on the cheering of the crowd?  Please share with us.

Blessings,

Preston

I’ve learned over the years not to let the opinions of others dictate my life, livelihood and business ethics. Although I appreciate accolades, I am not the type of person who thrives on receiving them. I love helping people, that’s what do, its who I am, and is how I got into the event planning industry. Great communication is the key to every type of relationship, including those that stem from business opportunities. I never make excuses but will apologize for their experience and take every opportunity to turn a negative situation into a positive one. My passion, belief in the mission and goal of a project, or belief in others is what drives me, as well as my love for helping, encouraging & uplifting others.

I agree with Preston that if we treat ourselves with respect then our work will reflect that and others will treat us the same way. I believe that you need very few people in your life who can point out your mistakes and accolades are welcome but life does not change with that. My mentors are very valuable asset in my life and their years of experience helps me to make positive changes for personal and professional growth. I lend a helping hand to others in help around me because my mentors lend me a helping hand when I needed most.

I don’t let people negativity effect me. I don’t mind people voicing their opinion because you may not agree with everything someone is saying, but it is important to have an open mind. There will always be a group of people who will not appreciate your hardwork. That’s just people. I know it can be hard to overlook an unappreciative person, but it is! What it is! At the end of the day I know I give my A plus game that’s what matters!! Moving Forward!

As a wedding/event cinematographer and artist, i am too dedicated with my work, i let customer knows that my work has a value and i am very careful in every work i do. I treat my customers very friendly but with extremetly respect, i show them they are hiring a professional and they need to feel comfortable with the person they are hiring. I think this has cause a very positive impact in my customer. I also listen to them and let them know i can work with their ideas and make they voice count.
